- CP 118: The CLASS 3 units College Language and Academic Success Strategies (CLASS) is designed for students who understand how important and sometimes difficult it is to make the transition to college. Studies have shown that students who struggle in college often do not understand the academic vocabulary and language used by their professors and textbooks. Therefore CLASS gives students strategies for learning new vocabulary in order to learn what their college-level classes are teaching. The CLASS also introduces students to a variety of effective study strategies including:
• How to read and study a text book
• How to take notes in class that will actually help you learn more
• How to study for a test without depriving yourself of sleep
• How to take a test—and how not to freak out while doing it
• How to manage your time and still get everything done
• How to navigate the university system
Check the Campus Cruiser Schedule of Classes for more information or contact Fay Nielsen, 453-2051.
