Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - La Mirada, California La Mirada - All was well for the Sunbirds through eight innings of play, but a ninth inning melt down allowed Biola to squeeze out the win. A three run lead was squandered as the Eagles used three singles and an error to pull off the comeback. A misplayed ball, by the short stop, jump started the rally for the Eagles. A two out single, with the bases loaded, tied the ball game at three and the winning run came across as the next batter reached base after being hit by a 2-2 pitch. Before things shifted against the Eagles, the Sunbirds were able to build a comfortable lead. Josh Jackson, who hit a home run in the first inning, went 2 for 4 at the plate along with a run scored and one batted in. Mitch Mulligan and Robert Schroeder each recorded an RBI as well. Jacob Burns pitched a strong six frames, but received a no decision in the loss. While on the hill, he struck out five batters and surrendered just one run. Today's set back drops the Sunbirds to 34-12 overall and 27-10 in the GSAC. They have been awarded a first round by in the Region II Tournament, May 6-9, which will be held at Azusa Pacific.
