box score

Fresno - Two home runs plated five of the Sunbirds eight runs in route to an 8-6 win over The Master's College. The victory awarded the Sunbird's the four game series sweep and the 30th win of the season.

Jacob Burns pitched five and two third innings to improve his record to 6-1.

Casey Padgett singled in the first run of the game in the second inning and center fielder Joe Halderman bunted home the second run to give the Sunbirds a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.

The Mustang's would answer back with a two run inning in the top of the fourth, but the Sunbirds' bats were just starting to heat up.

Joey Norwood's RBI single jump started the four run fifth inning and set the table for Josh Jackson's three run home run. His base clearing shot over the left field fence gave the Sunbird's a 6-2 lead.

Heads up defense and tough pitching got the Sunbird's out of a jam. The Mustang's recorded four hits in the sixth inning but only managed one run to make the score 6-3.

Once again the Sunbirds' used one swing of the bat to create some breathing room. Andrew Douglas connected for a two run home run to push the lead back to five runs, 8-3.

The Mustang's scored three runs in the final three innings as they attempted to rally late, but Daniel Brodie was able to hold their efforts to close out the 8-6 win.

Tonight's win improves the Sunbirds record to 30-10 overall and 22-8 in GSAC play. They will be back in action this Saturday for their regular season home finale against Point Loma Nazarene. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
