Sunday, November 5, 2006 - ITA National Indoor Columbus, Ohio - Audra Cohen, a junior from the University of Miami and the No. 2 seed, weathered a first set barrage from FPU's Jelena Pandzic and went on to claim a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win in the singles championship at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship. It was Pandzic first singles loss at Fresno Pacific and only the third of her collegiate career. Saturday, November 4, 2006 - ITA National Indoor Columbus, Ohio - Sixth-seeded Jelena Pandzic defeated No. 8 seed Megan Moulton-Levy of William and Mary 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship match. Pandzic will face off against #2 seed Audra Cohen of Miami tomorrow at noon. Columbus, Ohio - Jelena Pandzic passed her stiffest test at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships this afternoon defeating No. 3 seeded Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech 6-0, 6-3. The win advances Pandzic to the semifinals where she will face 8th-seeded Megan Moulton-Levey of William and Mary. Fresno Pacific's sixth-seeded Jelena Pandzic faces William & Mary's eighth-seeded Megan Moulton-Levy in the other semi. Pandzic received a wild card into the event by virtue of winning the ITA National Small College singles title last month (Fresno Pacific is an NAIA school). Her quarterfinal win over No. 3 Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech, 6-0, 6-3, was her 48th straight over the past two seasons. All 48 wins have also been in straight sets. She is just the second small college player to advance to the final four at this event, joining Division II BYU-Hawaii's Petra Gaspar who did it in 2000. Moulton-Levy came back from a 3-1 deficit in the third set to edge North Carolina's Jenna Long, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Moulton-Levy reached the semifinals at last May's NCAAs. Friday, November 3, 2006 - ITA National Indoor Columbus, Ohio - FPU's Jelena Pandzic defeated Jessica Nguyen of Stanford 6-4, 6-4 in the second round of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships this morning. Pandzic, a junior from Split, Croatia, never trailed. She was up 5-2 in the first set and both players were on serve in the second before Pandzic closed it. Pandzic had few problems yesterday with Anastasia Zhukova of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the opening round (a 6-0, 6-2 win). "This girl was tough," said Pandzic. "She is a very good player. It was very intense." There will likely be no drop in the intensity level in Pandzic's next match. That is a quarterfinal at 5:30 EST later today (2:30 Pacific) when Pandzic, the sixth seed, will face Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech. Miller, the third seed, easily defeated Blakeley Griffith of Tennessee (6-1, 6-2) this morning to advance to the quarterfinals. Pandzic is the only non-NCAA Division I player in the women's draw. She earned the privilege by winning the NAIA and ITA Small College Super Bowl championships two weeks ago in Fort Meyers, Florida. The championships are hosted by Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
