Summer Camp Fair

Resume Rush!

- Every student needs a resume when applying for part-time jobs off campus or on campus, summer jobs, internships and full-time jobs—and even for applying to graduate schools. You will receive tips on how to create a resume that looks attractive and is well written. No resume bloopers after attending this workshop! Join us!
Job Interviewing Tips

- Learn what you can do to get hired for any job! You will learn what to do before, during and after an interview to increase your chances of getting a job offer. Included:
- The two best strategies for finding a job in today’s economy.
- Interview etiquette, behavior and social tips.
- Avoiding the top 3 reasons college graduates are not hired.
- And more! Also, a free gift for those who attend this workshop.
Mock Interviews
- Date: Tuesday, March 20, 2012
- Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Location: Career Services Center in Student Life
- Employers will be at FPU to interview you for 30 minutes and offer suggestions on how to improve your interviewing skills and how to make a great first impression when you meet an employer. Dress in interview attire, professionally, for the interview. Sign up in advance for a mock interview at the Student Life Reception Desk, SCC 126. Bring a copy of your resume when you sign up.
Career Achievement Program / Networking Luncheon
Students who attend the resume and interviewing workshops and participate in a mock interview will be invited to this networking luncheon. You must attend all three previous events to be invited.
- Date: Tuesday, April 3, 2012
- Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Location: Ashley Auditorium
- Employers will be available to mentor you and assist in preparing you to make an exceptional impression during a job interview. Dress in professional interview attire. You do not need to bring your resume because this is a networking luncheon. There is no cost or fees for students.
- What you will learn from completing the Career Achievement Program (only a total of 2 ½ hours invested in your future)?
- A professional resume tailored specifically for your career/ job.
- Interviewing skills and etiquette tips that will impress any employer.
- Knowledge of what to wear and not to wear for a job interview. Note: Appearance is the number one reason employers do not hire candidates.
- Networking skills. Note: One of the two best methods in finding a job in today’s job market is through networking with people.
- Best tips for communicating with employers by phone or writing.
- How to connect with the professionals who could lead you to a job/ career.
- You will be able to note on your resume that you were awarded with a Career Achievement Certificate.
- Students who are invited to participate in the Career Networking Luncheon will receive a Career Certificate of Achievement. This will look good on your resume!
