  • A non-refundable application fee of $90.00 in U.S. funds (check or money order) made payable to Fresno Pacific University.
  • Submission of official transcripts verifying graduation from a U.S. regionally-accredited baccalaureate institution or its international equivalent. All foreign transcripts or diplomas must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Submission of a portfolio containing at least the following:
    • PERSONAL STATEMENT: Please reflect on your personal/professional development and write a statement (in English) that is from 2-3 typed pages in length. It should be prepared in a thoughtful manner and address the following questions:
      • What factors influenced you to choose your present career?
      • How do your personal values influence your work?
      • Why are you engaging in graduate work?
      • Why have you chosen to study at FPU?
    • TWO PIECES of ACADEMIC WRITING: Please submit writing you have done (in English) that demonstrates your ability to be thoughtful and reflective on a topic related to your area of interest or work. These pieces may be prepared specifically for this application or be something previously completed within the past 3 years. The following are examples of topics from which to choose:
      • Writing completed for a course
      • Writing that demonstrates your work in a school-based curriculum, committee or project
      • Other professionally oriented writing that you feel is appropriate
      • Other written work which demonstrates your ability to reflect, show insight and thoughtfully present ideas on a topic of interest

  • Submission of an offical TOEFL Score Report of at least 79 (Internet-based), 550 (paper test) or 213 (computerized test). (Those whose first language is English and who hold a bachelors or higher degree from an officially recognized college or university in a country where the primary language is English are exempt from the TOEFL requirement.)
  • Submission of an official report of a recent Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score taken within the last five years (General Exam). Students applying to the M.A. in TESOL program may submit a TOEFL score to meet the examination (GRE) requirement. In addition, TESOL students who do not take the GRE must also submit a score for the TEST of Written English (TWE). For students taking the computerized TOEFL test, the subtest score on structure/writing will be used in determining admission rather than the TWE.

  • Completion of the financial certification form and submission of a certified bank statement which show the student is capable of paying for full tuition, fees and living expenses for the duration of studies.

Exceptions to stated admissions requirements may be made only upon the recommendation of the Admissions Committee with final approval by the director of Graduate Admissions.
