Who is this program designed for?

This program is designed for experienced teachers in either the elementary or secondary level who wish to be leaders in their schools in the areas of curriculum and teaching.

How do I apply?

Complete the online graduate studies application and submit it with the processing fee. Submit three completed reference forms, official transcripts, Statement of Intent and copies of current teaching credential(s) held. Then schedule an interview with the program director for initial advising and an individual education plan.

Is financial aid available?

Yes! Financial aid is available through Fresno Pacific University's Student Financial Services Office. You must submit a FAFSA online. Many students receive a Stafford Loan which may cover the entire cost of the program. Some students receive full or partial reimbursement from their employers.

Is tuition for out-of-state (non-California resident) or international students more than in-state (California resident) tuition?

Tuition is the same whether you are a California resident or not.

How much time will it take to complete my master's in curriculum and teaching?

Depending on the program you choose, most of your coursework can be completed in 3 semesters (one year) with your project/thesis remaining.

Can I transfer in units I have already taken at another university?

Usually, you may transfer up to 9 units of your teacher education coursework into your master's program.

Is the program 100% online?

The fully online program is 100% online and there is no face-to-face interaction. In the online blended program, there is an in-person session between each course.

Is the program accredited?

Yes! Fresno Pacific University has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 1965 and has been fully reaccredited by WASC. All the curriculum and teaching master's programs, including the online programs, have undergone the same accreditation process as all other academic programs at Fresno Pacific University.

In the online program, do I have to login at a certain time on specific days?

Generally not. The online courses allow you the flexibility to login each week at your convenience. A key to success is to set a regular time when you will login. Make sure you communicate regularly with faculty and other students via threaded discussion and email. In some courses, professors may choose to schedule a synchronous session using Elluminate. You will have ample lead time to incorporate these dates into your schedule.

What is a cohort?

A cohort is a group of students that begin and finish a master's degree program at the same time. The students work together in each course giving and receiving feedback on subject matter.

How often does a new cohort begin?

New cohorts for the online and online/blended programs start every spring (January) and summer (June). The general (face to face) program can begin any semester.

How do I access library resources as an online student?

Once you have been admitted to the School of Education for your graduate degree, you will have access to the Hiebert Library via the online portal. You will be able access many resources through your "Campus Cruiser" account.

What is Campus Cruiser?

Campus Cruiser is the portal by which you access your registration information, your online homework, library resources and FPU email. You will register for your classes on Campus Cruiser.

How to I purchase textbooks as an online student?

You may order books through the Pacific Bookshop or your local book retailer.

How is homework completed and turned in as an online student?

You will use Moodle to access your homework assignments. Signature assignments will be done using TaskStream.

Is there technical support available for students if I have a technical problem?

Yes. There is a Helpdesk provided by Fresno Pacific University. The Helpdesk can be utilized during their operating hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
