Who is this program designed for?
This program is designed for experienced teachers who wish to administer comprehensive library programs and advance the responsible use of technology while promoting and developing reading skills. It is specifically designed to prepare librarians for service inside the school environment, in grades K - 12.
How do I apply?
Complete the online graduate studies application and submit it with the processing fee. Submit three completed reference forms, official transcripts, Statement of Intent and copies of current teaching credential(s) held. Then schedule an interview with the program director for initial advising and an individual education plan.
Is financial aid available?
Yes! Financial aid is available through Fresno Pacific University’s Student Financial Services Office. You must submit a FAFSA online. Many students receive a Stafford Loan which may cover the entire cost of the program. Some students receive full or partial reimbursement from their employers.
Is tuition for out-of-state (non-California resident) or international students more than in-state (California resident) tuition?
Tuition is the same whether you are a California resident or not.
How much time will it take to complete my Teacher Librarian Services Credential?
Depending on the program you choose, coursework can be completed in 2 to 2½ years.
Can I transfer in units I have already taken at another university?
Usually, you may transfer up to 9 units of your teacher education coursework into your master's program.
Is the program 100% online?
Yes, the online programs are 100% online; however, the same courses are also offered in face-to-face and blended/online formats.
Is the program accredited?
Yes! Fresno Pacific University has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 1965 and has been fully reaccredited by WASC. All the curriculum and teaching master's programs, including the online programs, have undergone the same accreditation process as all other academic programs at Fresno Pacific University.
In the online program, do I have to login at a certain time on specific days?
No. The online courses allow you the flexibility to login each week at your convenience. A key to success is to set a regular time when you will login. Make sure you communicate regularly with faculty and other students via threaded discussion and email.
What is a cohort?
A cohort is a group of students that begin a program at the same time. The students work together in each course giving and receiving feedback on subject matter.
How often does a new cohort begin?
A new online cohort will begin in May 2008.
How do I access library resources as an online student?
Once you have been admitted to the School of Education for your graduate degree, you will have access to the Hiebert Library via the online portal. You will be able access many resources through your “Campus Cruiser” account.
What is Campus Cruiser?
Campus Cruiser is the portal by which you access your registration information, your online homework, library resources, and FPU email. You will register for your classes on Campus Cruiser.
How to I purchase textbooks as an online student?
You may order books through the Pacific Bookshop or your local book retailer.
How is homework completed and turned in as an online student?
You will use “Moodle” to access your homework assignments. Signature assignments will be done using “LiveText.”
Is there technical support available for students if I have a technical problem?
Yes. There is a Help Desk provided by Fresno Pacific University. The Help Desk can be utilized during their operating hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
