Do you know anyone who will be starting as a freshman at FPU in the fall? Please tell them about this exciting opportunity to improve their academic skills.
Students come to college thinking they know how to study and how to live. Most are delighted to be free (to some degree) of parental supervision. And most are surprised at some point in their freshman year that college is not exactly what they expected. College Language and Academic Success Strategies, CLASS, is an honest look at what college is really like. Students who struggled in high school and students who never had to work for good grades will all benefit from learning sound academic strategies that will help them not only survive college, but also become life-long learners.
Students may choose the option that works best for them:
1. 3-unit course CP 118: Students will enroll in 3 units of credit and pay regular summer tuition fees ($750). A letter grade will be recorded on the transcript and the course will count as an elective toward graduation. Students must purchase their own textbooks.
2. Non-credit workshop CP 018: Students will pay a $400 registration fee to cover the cost of instruction and materials. No grade will be recorded but the student will be able to improve skills at a much lower cost.
Dates: July 27-August 14, 2009 (Monday-Friday)
Time: 8:00 a.m. to noon
Place: FPU Campus
Housing: $85 per week, does not include food, kitchen and tools provided
Registration deadline: July 13, 2009
