Professional and Service Experience

My teaching career started as a kindergarten teacher in Escondido, California. I taught in elementary schools for ten years in grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. During that time I completed my master's in counseling and doctor of education degree in school psychology. I was a school psychologist for one year before moving to Bakersfield, California, to become a coordinator of pupil services(including special education) and assistant principal at Richland School District in Shafter, California. In 1988, I was selected for an elementary principal position in the Panama Buena Vista Union School District. I was a principal for nineteen years before moving to my current position at the district office as director of personnel.
