Share why you teach at FPU

I am committed to teaching the subject matter of history from a progressive Christian perspective that is current with regard to facts and analytical viewpoints. I want students to gain an understanding of the various ways that history may be viewed based on different ideological stances. My teaching is student-centered and discussion-oriented.

Scholarly Interests

My interests lie primarily in Anabaptist and old order Christian history, for example, Mennonites and Hutterites, as well as utopian and communal groups in the United States.

Professional and Service Experience

I serve as editor of the Pacific Journal (since 2006) and Communal Societies (since 1999) and attend many academic conferences each year, where presentations are made.
