Historical note
The Board of Mass Media, established in 1972, was given the responsibility "to promote the proclamation of the Gospel by means of radio, television, film, cassette and related electronic media'' and to "study issues of concern such as effective contemporary communications, impact of the media, and broadening and updating traditional views of communication'' (1981 General Conference Constitution). The Board functioned until 1990, when it was disbanded and its responsibilities assigned to the newly-organized Board of Resource Ministries.
Scope and content note
This record group includes minutes of the Board of Mass Media, 1972-1990, minutes of the Inter-Mennonite Media Group, 1981-1983, and an audio visual presentation (slides, sound tape cassette and typewritten script) entitled "The Squeeze is On."
