The bachelor of science in nursing prepares RNs with an associate degree to become leaders in their profession. Classes strengthen clinical decision making skills and broaden students' academic foundation. Participants also learn about community and public health nursing and nursing research. Leadership instruction includes conflict management.

What can I do with this degree?
- Nurses with a BSN have the credentials to become administrators in hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices and retirement centers—anywhere nurses can be found. They are qualified for nursing positions in industry and K-12 schools. Graduates are also prepared for graduate study in nursing to be instructors, administrators, researchers and consultants in areas of expertise.
What are the admission requirements?
- Completed application form and $40 fee (fee waived if you attend an information meeting)
- All application pieces, official transcripts, recommendation form and admissions essay
- Minimum 2.4 GPA
- Minimum 60 transferable baccalaureate level units
- Four years post-secondary experience
- Active nursing license or proof of application for California registered nursing license
Are there additional course requirements?
- Prerequisite courses within the program: chemistry, statistics and an upper division writing course
- Chemistry must be taken before pathology
- Statistics and the upper division writing course must be taken before nursing research
- Once admitted to the program, all remaining units must be from upper division courses
