FPU hosts Michael W. Smith Big Fresno Fair show

Michael W. Smith will headline the Big Fresno Fair--and Fresno Pacific University is part of it.

Smith will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, in the Paul Paul Theater at the Fresno Fairgrounds. Tickets are $15 or $20. For more information, go to fresnofair.com.

A favorite feature of Smith's concerts is the "Hallelujah Choir," made up of amatuer singers from the local community.

For the Fresno show, 25 of the 75 voices will be Fresno Pacific University students. The group will rehearse on campus in Room 103 of Marpeck Hall from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4 and October 10. FPU is also the concert sponsor.

A singer and songwriter, Smith has found success on the Christian and secular charts. Winner of three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, he is also among the best-selling and most influential artists in Contemporary Christian Music, with 34 Dove Awards. Smith has sold more than 13 million albums and recorded 29 number-one songs.
