DC student dies/taking class online

We at FPU are saddened at death of a degree-completion student.

Miyoshi Smith, a member of the criminology and restorative justice studies bachelor's degree-completion program, died Sunday morning, October 25.

She had been taking a biblical studies class from September 23 to October 28 that was online only and included no face-to-face classes. The last time she met with her cohort was September 16.

Smith had been hospitalized for about a week and a half with H1N1 and pneumonia.

A Fresno resident, Smith was 29 years old and had a 10-year-old son.

"Our prayers are with Miyoshi's family and friends, as well as with her fellow students," said President D. Merrill Ewert.
