DC student dies/taking class online
We at FPU are saddened at death of a degree-completion student.
Miyoshi Smith, a member of the criminology and restorative justice studies bachelor's degree-completion program, died Sunday morning, October 25.
She had been taking a biblical studies class from September 23 to October 28 that was online only and included no face-to-face classes. The last time she met with her cohort was September 16.
Smith had been hospitalized for about a week and a half with H1N1 and pneumonia.
A Fresno resident, Smith was 29 years old and had a 10-year-old son.
"Our prayers are with Miyoshi's family and friends, as well as with her fellow students," said President D. Merrill Ewert.
