Psychology is a vibrant, rapidly growing major situated within the School of Humanities, Religion, and Social Sciences at Fresno Pacific University. Our faculty members are known for engagement with students and communities. The psychology program encourages scholarly research that challenges and empowers students to engage with people who are at-risk, underserved, or marginalized.
Responsibilities:
The department of psychology is looking for applicants with skills and interests consistent with undergraduate instruction at a liberal arts university. The program emphasizes general knowledge in psychology, preparation of students for graduate school, interdisciplinary integration, and applied research. The faculty member is expected to actively mentor and advise psychology undergraduate majors, providing students with research opportunities. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to departmental, university, and community service.
Position 1
- The faculty member may teach courses such as Introduction to Psychology, History and Systems of Psychology, Social Psychology, Community Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Psychology of Religion. Some instructional load may be available at the master’s level (marriage & family therapy).
Position 2
- The faculty member may teach courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Introduction to Social Science Research, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Psychology of Personality. Some instructional load may be available at the master’s level (MFT).
Qualifications:
Required for Position 1
- Doctorate (or ABD) in community, organizational, cross-cultural, or clinical psychology.
Required for Position 2
- Doctorate (or ABD) in biological psychology, experimental psychology, social/personality psychology, cognitive psychology, or forensic psychology.
Required for Positions 1 & 2
- Desire to mentor undergraduate research in discipline.
- Commitment to undergraduate instruction.
- Record or promise of scholarly achievement.
- Ability to work with students, staff and faculty in a collegial environment.
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the university’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.
Desired for Positions 1 & 2
- Commitment to dialogue between psychology and Christian faith.
- Demonstrated college-level teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly contribuitions (quantitative or qualitative).
