Welcome to the second issue of Pacific Journal from Fresno Pacific University, “The Church Confronts Slavery, Race, and Gender.”
Pacific Journal occupies a special niche among academic journals. Although there are a number of peer-reviewed journals associated with secular and Christian colleges and universities, few provide an opportunity for Christian faculty to publish scholarly works in their academic fields enlarging the knowledge base without a mandatory integration of faith and scholarship.
The Journal accepts and encourages submissions from college and university scholars as they relate to each issue’s theme. Each submitted manuscript will be double peer-reviewed, with at least one of the assessments done by someone not on the FPU faculty.
FPU publishes the Journal annually. To submit articles, request a subscription or bulk mailing, and any other official correspondence, contact Rod Janzen, Fresno Pacific University, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, CA 93702; email, rajanzen@fresno.edu; telephone, 559-453-2210.
Send books for review to Richard Rawls, director, Hiebert Library, Fresno Pacific University, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, CA 93702; email, rrawls@fresno.edu; telephone, 559-453-2219.
The Pacific Journal follows The Chicago Manuel of Style, 15th Edition (Chicago, University of Chicago Press, 2003). Endnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript using superscript and produced on separate pages following the text. Except for quotations as necessary, manuscripts should be written in English, although exceptional articles in other languages may be considered. Manuscripts should be submitted on computer disk in two double-spaced copies. Authors alone are responsible for the content of their articles and will be asked, prior to publication, to certify that these present original work not published elsewhere.
In order to welcome you and other scholars to Pacific Journal, the current issue is available for downloading free of charge. Subscriptions to the print edition are $10 per year, and future issues will be available online at $5 each.
Look for the 2008 issue in July. The theme will be “The Church and the Environment,” and authors will include Michael Kunz, Will Friesen, Ken Martens-Friesen and Richard Rawls, FPU professors; and Honora Chapman, professor at California State University, Fresno.
We are proud to share Pacific Journal with you, and hope you will join this unique new journal as subscribers and contributers.
