Disk Size - University Owned Computers

General Groups

• Staff - 2 GB
• FT faculty - 3 GB
• Student staff - 500 MB
• Administration - 2 GB
• Power users - ? GB (depends on use)

Selected Backup Folders

• My Documents
• Favorites
• Desktop
• Application Data (for Outlook)

File Exclusions

• Media files (music, videos; *.mp3, *.wav, *.mpg, *.avi, etc.)
• Programs (*.exe, *.com, etc.)
• Temp files

Backup Schedule

• At login
• When a file changes
• No scheduled daily or nightly backup. Computer can be shutdown in the evening.

Versioning

• 10 versions of each file
• If file is saved more than once in a hour, only one version during that hour counts against the 10 total; all versions are saved (i.e. saving a file 10 times in a hour gives you the possibility of 19 versions saved at that time).

Bandwidth Limiting

• 500 k/s max during backup
• Veritas yields to other bandwidth-intensive programs (i.e. FTP download)

Restoring Lost Files

Both the Veritas administrator and the end-users have the ability to restore lost files.
