Dial-Up Instructions - Windows 2000
To Set Up Dial-Up with Windows 2000:
- Click on the Start button
- Click on Settings
- Click on Network & Dial-up Connections
- Double Click on Make a New Connection
A screen called Network Connection Wizard will appear, click Next:
- Choose Dial-up to the Internet
- Click on Next
- On the next screen called Internet Connection Wizard choose I want to set up my Internet connection manually...
- Click on Next
- Choose I connect through a phone line or modem
- Click on Next
- Type in the phone number: 453-2301
- Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules
- Click on Next
- Enter your information services department assigned User Name and Password
- Click on Next
- Enter Connection Name (e.g.: FPU Dial-up)
- Click on Next
- Click No under Do you want to set up an Internet mail account?
- Click on Next
- Click on Finish
Network and Dial-up Connection screen will appear after the last instruction. One of the connections in the list will show a telephone icon with the name of the connection (e.g.: FPU Dial-up)
To Set Up a Shortcut on Your Desktop for Your New Dial-up Connection:
- Right click on the dial-up connection in the list
- Choose Create a Shortcut
- Click on the Yes button in the box that asks if you would like to put the shortcut on your desktop
To dial-up, double click on the shortcut you have just created and fill in your assigned User Name and Password. Then just click on the Dial button.
