Fresno Pacific University to host Urban Youth Workers Institute seminar

Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI) will host RELOAD—A One-Day Training Experience at Fresno Pacific University Saturday, October 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $15 in advance; $20 at the door. RELOAD is designed to refresh and support urban youth workers and volunteers through worship, teaching and workshops. This event will also create community among urban Christian leaders in Fresno. Other sponsors include MB Biblical Seminary, Westside Church of God, Fresno Area Youth Coalition and Central Valley Youth Ministries Network.

Workshops include:

  • “Organizing Your Ministry…From Chaos to Clarity”
  • “Growing Deep: Building A More Theologically Sound Youth Ministry”
  • "Helping Kids, Families, and Communities Who Hurt”
  • “Bagged Lunch and a Drop of Oil: Multiplying Resources for Urban Ministry”
  • “Youth Track: Developing the Next Generation of Leaders Around You”
  •  “From Gangs to Jobs”
  • “Connecting with Rural Youth”


Speakers include Larry Acosta, founder and president of UYWI, Buena Park, and Jeremy Del Rio, founder of Generation Xcel, New York City.

UYWI works to develop the next generation of urban multi-ethnic leaders through one-day training events, citywide learning groups, coaching, mentoring and an annual national conference that gathers over 1,500 urban youth workers from around the country. To find out more, visit www.uywi.org.
