A weekend of all things Hebrew

About a dozen students immersed themselves in biblical Hebrew during a weekend retreat at Casa Pacifica February 19-20.

Not only did they speak Hebrew, they ate Middle Eastern food, read Scripture in Hebrew, watched an Israeli movie (in Amharic, French and Hebrew – with subtitles), played games in Hebrew and enjoyed Israeli/Hebrew music. While Brian Schultz, Ph.D., biblical and religious studies faculty, and his wife, Rachel, led activities, the event was the brainchild of classics student Michaelynne Whittsit and organized by students.  (Photo, from left: Rachel Schultz, Brian Schultz, Rachel York, Anna Lugo and Whitsitt.)
