Credential Celebration 2012 (video link)

About 180 newly credentialed teachers were honored at the 2012 Teacher Credential Ceremony at Fresno Pacific University. For the first time, those receiving credentials in special education joined those who earned single subject or multiple subject credentials. A record audience of more than 800 family and friends watched the ceremony May 9 in the Special Events Center on the main campus. Among the highlights of the program were presentations of the Apple Award to Ed Plank, education faculty, and Francile Watkins, a supervisor for special education credential candidates. In all, 73 candidates qualified for multiple subject credentials, 30 for single subject credentials and 78 for special education credentials.

FPU President D. Merrill Ewert was the main speaker, and music was provided by music teacher candidates and the Roosevelt High School orchestra. For the third year, candidates received a painting from Janice Leppke, former faculty. The image was called “Rooted and Grounded,” which was the program theme for the 2011-2012 year.
