The Spanish language, though in various dialects, is spoken across the country and throughout the world. Thus, a deep understanding of this language and the cultures from which it originates is a vital part of a global perspective, and is of value in a wide range of professions.
Distinctive Features
While many Spanish programs focus solely on the language, the Spanish language and culture major at FPU offers a choice of focus through two emphases:
Latin America consists of many individual countries, each with a unique history, and each with a uniqe culture. The Latin American cultures emphasis exposes students to some of these cultures, exploring their differences from each other, and from American ways of life.
Spanish is one of the most recognizable languages spoken today-nationally and across the globe. While there are dozens of varying dialects, a basic understanding of the language is invaluable.
Distinctive Features
This emphasis requires at least one semester abroad, providing an intense, interactive environment for studying the Spanish language.
