History Minor

History explores the people, cultures, events and actions of the past, in order to shed light on the present and future. The history minor provides students with an introduction to this exploration and develops the tools needed for continued historical reflection.

Environmental Studies Minor

The minor in environmental studies is designed to deepen an individual's appreciation of the natural world, teaching each student studying in the program how to exercise greater personal stewardship with regards to the environment.

English Minor

English explores various forms of literature from selected cultures and periods in history, including novels, theater, fiction, nonfiction, poetry and journalism.

Cultural Anthropology Minor

American society is becoming increasingly multicultural. Cultural anthropology explores the nature of culture in different settings and historical time periods. It examines human behavior throughout the world, discovering how people in distinct cultural contexts live together, creating and interpreting experiences.

Contemporary Christian Ministries Minor

Contemporary Christian ministries explores practical forms of service in church and para-church ministries.

Classics Minor

The classics minor introduces students to the language and thought of the ancient world, from which many of the foundations of the modern world are derived: Judaism, Christianity, politics, philosophy, history, and so forth. It prepares students for advanced study in biblical and religious studies, literature, history, law, philosophy, languages, the classics and many other related areas.

Chemistry Minor

The chemistry minor provides students with an introduction to the various areas of chemistry and explores their impact on the modern world.

Biology Minor

The biology minor offers a basic understanding of the natural world, including its living organisms. Humans, and their relationship to other organisms, are studied as a part of a living order. Students gain a basic understanding of the unifying concepts, diversity and importance of organisms.

Sociology

Sociology examines elements and relationships of society, offering a range of research techniques that can be useful to almost every aspect of social life. The sociology major at FPU includes cross-cultural studies, intended to help students understand how societies operate throughout different cultures.

Music - Secondary Teaching Emphasis

Music has the ability to enhance virtually any aspect of life, including our ability to learn. Thus, music teachers not only offer musical instruction, they offer skills that are useful in studying other subjects. The secondary teaching emphasis offers students the tools necessary to train future musicians.
