The annual Leadership Awards ceremony took place April 26 in the AIMS Hall Atrium on the main campus. Students in the traditional undergraduate program were honored in 16 categories. The Sunbird Award, for best exemplifyingthe Fresno Pacific Idea went to David Hawes, a junior communications major from Mariposa. Here, Dean of Students Randy Worden addresses the group over dessert.

B.S. in Biology: Individualized Emphasis

The B.S. in biology with an individualized emphasis allows the student to choose electives in consultation with the program director to address their specific interests. Courses from field institutes or other institutions may be used. Examples of possible emphases include marine biology, plant science, animal science and biopsychology. This emphasis is only permitted with approval of the program director.

B.S. in Biology: Human Health Emphasis

The B.S. in biology with a human health emphasis is designed for students with interests in health professions.

The following courses are required for this emphasis. The general education courses listed are only those required for this major and emphasis. A total of 57 - 63 units are required for general education (not including the language requirement).

B.S. in Biology: Environmental Emphasis

The B.S. in biology with an environmental emphasis is designed for students with interests in environmental biology.

The following courses are required for this emphasis. The general education courses listed are only those required for this major and emphasis. A total of 57 - 63 units are required for general education (not including the language requirement).

B.S. in Biology: Secondary Teaching Emphasis

The B.S. in biology with a secondary teaching emphasis is designed for students who are interested in teaching secondary biology. The B.A. in biology also offers this emphasis.

In additional to the following coursework, there are additional requirements for teacher education candidates.

B.A. in Biology: General Biology Emphasis

The B.A. in biology with a general biology emphasis provides the maximum flexibility for students to craft a major to suit their particular interests. Students with this emphasis are encouraged to consider off-campus summer programs and semester abroad programs for additional course enrichment.

B.A. in Biology: Secondary Teaching Emphasis

AIMS Hall opens new era of mathematics, science education to Fresno Pacific University

With a 41-foot pendulum counting to the future, a new era in mathematics and science officially arrived at Fresno Pacific University.

More than 200 students, faculty, staff, guests and news media packed the lobby and second-floor balcony of AIMS Hall of Mathematics and Science for dedication ceremonies October 11. The two-story, 20,097 square-foot building opened in August and includes laboratories for biology, physics, chemistry and research as well as classrooms, a library and faculty offices.
