Lynne Ashbeck elected Clovis mayor

A member of the FPU Board of Trustees was elected mayor of Clovis.

Clovis City Council members elected Lynne Ashbeck as mayor at their meeting March 11, 2013.

Nathan Magsig was chosen mayor pro tem. Ashbeck, who succeeds Jose Flores, served as mayor pro tem the past two years.

City Council members select a mayor and a mayor pro tem for two-year terms every two years after each election.

Ashbeck and Magsig were up for election on the five-member council but had no challengers. They were appointed for four more years.

Desire to remain affordable drives tuition decisions

In a continuing effort to keep a quality education within the reach of students and families, the Fresno Pacific University Board of Trustees approved tuition and fees with little or no increases across all programs for 2013-2014.

For traditional undergraduates, tuition and fees will be $25,616, up 1.5 percent from 2012-2013. There will be no increase in room cost; board has not yet been set. Bachelor’s degree completion costs will stay the same at $415-510 per unit, depending on the program.

FPU begins presidential search by selecting search firm, committee

The FPU Board of Trustees has selected the Dingman Company, a worldwide search firm based in California, and appointed a search committee including board members, alumni, faculty and staff to lead the process to select a new president.

Current President D. Merrill Ewert, Ph.D., announced June 1 he will retire effective July 31, 2012. He took office June 1, 2002.
