Board of Supervisors honors the Ewerts

Merrill and Priscilla Ewert were honored June 5 by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors for their contribtuions to FPU and the community.

The full text of the proclamation:

WHEREAS
D. Merrill Ewert, who became President of Fresno Pacific University in June 2002 after a career at Wheaton College, the University of Maryland, and Cornell University, will retire July 31, 2012; and

Fundraisers honor friends of Fresno Pacific

 FPU was well represented at Fresno’s National Philanthropy Day celebration November 15.

Nadene and Marvin and Steinert, Linda Calandra and Wells Fargo were among those honored at a luncheon sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals California Valley Chapter at University Square Hotel, Fresno. All were nominated by Charity Brown, director of alumni and church relations.

Alpha Chi members garner regional, local honors

Fay Nielsen was elected president of Region VII of Alpha Chi, the academic honor society. Nielsen, associate dean of mentoring and retention, and Marshall Johnston, history and classics faculty, sponsor the FPU chapter. Each region has one student and three faculty officers. The election took place during meetings March 25-27.
