Larry Warkentin recital features premiers, collaboration with Harold Haak

A collaboration between a longtime faculty member and a former president of Fresno Pacific University will be one of three premiers on the program for a May concert.

“Music of Love” is the title of a recital of songs by Larry Warkentin, who composed the entire program. The performance begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, in Butler Church, 4884 Butler Avenue, and is sponsored by the FPU Music Department.

Warkentin wins ASCAP prize

An honor from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) recognizes a long-time member of the Fresno Pacific University music faculty.

KVPR to broadcast music of FPU faculty

A work by a Fresno Pacific University faculty member will be presented on KVPR Valley Public Radio.

“Sonata for Flute and Piano,” composed by Larry Warkentin and performed by Warkentin and Janette Erickson will air at 10 p.m. October 30. Erickson is university faculty and principal flutist with the Fresno Philharmonic. Warkentin is an award-winning composer who has served FPU since 1966.

Warkentin wins ASCAP prize

An award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honors a member of the Fresno Pacific University music faculty.

Larry Warkentin received an ASCAPLU$ Standard Award, a cash prize for writers of serious music. Selections are based on the value of each writer’s compositions as well as recent performances of his or her works. “We are delighted to join your educational institution in supporting the growth and development of our nation’s musical future,” said Marilyn Bergman, ASCAP president and chairman of the board.
