Junior University begins summer camp season (video link)

Summer camps kicked off June 18 with Junior University. About 55 students grades 2 through 8 learned about science, math and technology with hands-on classes designed to be engaging and fun. Two faculty publish in Directions

 

A pair of faculty have articles in the latest edition of Direction: A Mennonite Brethren Forum. In the Spring 2012 issue, Mark Baker, Ph.D., associate professor of mission and theology, published “Which Courtroom and Which Narrative Shapes Your Atonement Theology?” Ryan Schellenberg, Ph.D., assistant professor of biblical studies, published “Recovering the Scandal of the Cross: A ‘Redaction-critical’ Reflection.”

Gehrett speaks to Kern County educators

 

Matt Gehrett, M.A., executive director of online and continuing education, spoke at the Kern County K-12 Administrator Technology Symposium June 8, 2012, in Bakersfield. Around 50 administrators attended, mostly school site and district leaders from around the county. Gehrett’s session was "Personalized Learning with Technology." More at storify.com/gehrett/personalized-learning  

Profs promoted, granted continuing status

 

During its regular meetings June 8-9, 2012, the FPU Board of Trustees granted continuing status to Terence Yi, Ph.D., mathematics; Steve Pauls, Ph.D., chemistry; Don Diboll, Ph.D., kinesiology; and W. Marshall Johnston. Jr., Ph.D., history and classics. Pauls and Johnston were also promoted to associate professor.

Board of Supervisors honors the Ewerts

Merrill and Priscilla Ewert were honored June 5 by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors for their contribtuions to FPU and the community.

The full text of the proclamation:

WHEREAS
D. Merrill Ewert, who became President of Fresno Pacific University in June 2002 after a career at Wheaton College, the University of Maryland, and Cornell University, will retire July 31, 2012; and

Matt Gehrett, M.A., and Henrietta Siemens, Ph.D.

 

Duane Ruth-Heffelbower, J.D., M.Div.

 

Duane Ruth-Heffelbower, J.D., M.Div., associate professor of peacemaking and conflict studies, published "I'm a ___________ mediator: How mediators' profession of origin affects their practice" in the winter 2012 edition of ACResolution, the magazine of the Association for Conflict Resolution, the largest professional organization in the field.
