The environmental science major exists to provide tools for scientific observation and analysis of the environment. Using an interdisciplinary approach to scientific study, the major compliments studies of biology and chemistry with theological, philosophical, and legal perspectives on the environment.
The environmental studies major serves as a bridge between the natural sciences, social sciences, the humanities and biblical and religious studies. It continually seeks to create a conversation between disciplines related to natural history, human history and religious values.
The minor in environmental studies is designed to deepen an individual's appreciation of the natural world, teaching each student studying in the program how to exercise greater personal stewardship with regards to the environment.
