Becca’s Bakery (video link)

Becca Rhodes, one of Fresno Pacific’s women’s residence directors, opens the doors of her apartment for Becca’s Bakery one morning each week for fellowship over warm homemade bread. You can check it out on Wednesday mornings from 7:30-9:00 in Warkentine 122.

Summer events enlivened main campus

A variety of events kept the summer busy on Fresno Pacific’s main campus. From athletic camps to music camps and educational workshops, there was something for everyone. 

New president speaks of hope at opening convocation

President Pete Menjares brought a message of hope in his first President’s Convocation.

“This university has gone through significant changes in the past five to seven years,” Menjares told a full house of students, faculty and staff August 29 in the Special Events Center on the main campus. The name of his presentation, and the theme for the academic year, is “Abounding in Hope in Times of Change.”

Fitness Center and Commuter Lounge coming this fall

A pair of projects should make for a merry Christmas season at Fresno Pacific University.

Work is set to begin in September on a Commuter Lounge and a Fitness Center on the main campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. The facilities are to open in December.

Fresno Pacific athletics hosts media luncheon (video link)

FPU athletics invited local media for an Athletics Media Luncheon. Newspaper, radio and television reporters came to meet with staff and students, and to get an update on what the 2012-2013 school year has in store for our athletes. Announcements included FPU’s second year in the NCAA, new employees and changes to the website: fpuathletics.com

FPU men’s soccer players share their skills with their community (video link)

For the second year, the Fresno Pacific men’s soccer team led a camp with the Fig Garden Youth Soccer League at Forkner Elementary. Each night for two hours from August 7-9 Sunbird players taught students valuable skills that will help them and their teams in seasons to come. 

Summer camps wrap up with girl’s basketball (video link)

Fresno Pacific hosted the annual Girl’s Basketball Camp August 7-9, with grades 4-8 meeting in the morning and high school students in the afternoon. Incoming freshmen gain experience through the CLASS (video link)

The College Language and Academic Success Strategies (CLASS) at Fresno Pacific offers incoming freshman a way to prepare themselves for the exciting world of a college campus. This three-week course, held from July 30 - August 17, prepares students to better take notes, use textbooks, study for tests and understand common collegiate terminology.
