Ministry Quest Program Director Appointed

MB Biblical Seminary is delighted to announce the appointment of Rick Bartlett as the Ministry Quest program director effective June 2003. Ministry Quest is a program giving High School Youth the opportunity to explore ministry as a vocational option. Ministry Quest is the High School component of the "Hearing The Call" project directed by John Neufeld. In addition to Directing Ministry Quest, Rick will teach courses and lead seminars in youth ministry, leadership development and discipleship.

Presidential Search Survey Results Announced

The MBBS Presidential Search Committee is pleased to report the completion of the information gathering process begun in mid-November 2002. Of the approximately 700 surveys distributed, 45% were returned; half from Canadian respondents, the other half from U.S. respondents.
During a telephone conference meeting on January 13, the committee reviewed the data tables compiled by its consultant, Rebekah Basinger. An extensive discussion of the results and their impact on the presidential profile produced a preliminary profile. (Detailed survey

Henry Schmidt: A Life of Mission and Ministry

On September 13, 2002, Dr. Henry Schmidt announced his resignation as President of Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, effective June 15, 2003. Dr. Schmidt became the sixth president of the MBBS in Fresno, California in 1993, having served on the faculty of MBBS for a total of 34 years. Board of Directors' Chair Cal Bergen says, "It is with profound regret that we accept Dr. Schmidt's resignation. He has been a strong leader over the past decade, and has reshaped the seminary, bringing it closer spatially and philosophically to our constituencies.

President Henry Schmidt Announces Resignation

Henry Schmidt, President of Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary has announced his resignation, effective June 15, 2003. Dr. Schmidt is presently completing his tenth year as President of MBBS and his 34th year at the seminary. The Board of Directors acknowledges with gratitude the significant leadership and teaching gifts Henry has brought to MBBS. FPU faculty member travels to California capitol to support restorative justice

The words of a literary giant accompanied a Fresno Pacific University faculty through California capitol corridors April 23.

“Mark Twain is credited with saying there are two things one should never seen being made: sausage and legislation,” said Ruth-Heffelbower, graduate faculty and member of the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies. Ruth-Heffelbower was in Sacramento to try and influence a bill being considered by the State Senate that would better prepare “first responders” (police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians) to handle terrorist attacks.
