FPU brings John Wooden to Fresno

Advance interest leads to larger venue

John Wooden’s appearance in Fresno, hosted by Fresno Pacific University, has generated so much interest that an event previously held on campus has been moved downtown to the Fresno Convention Center New Exhibit Hall.

Pianist, composer and teacher Walter Saul performs the Hill Memorial Concert

A pianist and a piece of music make their Washington premiere at the Hill Memorial Concert at the Longview Community Church in Longview, Washington.

Walter Saul will perform Sunday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of LongviewCommunity Church. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the music department of the church.

Arun Gandhi comes to Fresno to help "Build a Culture of Peace"

Ways to bring peace to a world at war and communities in conflict will be explored during “Building a Culture of Peace,” a week of activities hosted by Fresno Pacific University (FPU) and California State University, Fresno (CSUF), September 27-Ocotber 3.

Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and peacemaker in his own right, will be the special guest during the event. He will speak at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium as well as on both campuses.

Pianist, composer and teacher Walter Saul opens FPU concert series

A pianist and a piece of music make their California premiere as Fresno Pacific University’s Pacific Artists Series opens its second season.

Walter Saul will perform Friday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. in the atrium of McDonald Hall, on the FPU campus. Tickets are $5 for general audiences, $3 for those 62 or older and $10 for families, and are available at the door.

Rawls and Varvis take on new administrative roles at FPU

Familiar faces are being seen in new places this fall at Fresno Pacific University.

Janita Rawls, business faculty, begins a one-year appointment as interim dean of Fresno Pacific College, the traditional undergraduate program. Stephen Varvis moves from dean of the college to director of business and civic relations for the Advancement Office.           

Fresno Pacific University offers more programs in Visalia

FresnoPacific University is expanding its presence in Visalia.

 The Fresno Pacific University Visalia Center opens August 4, 2003, for fall semester. The center allows FPU to provide more complete programs for graduate students and working adults seeking to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Toews earns Fulbright Scholarship to travel to Ukraine

A Fulbright Scholarship will allow a Fresno Pacific University faculty member to impart American history while rescuing Mennonite history.

Paul Toews, history faculty and director of the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies, will be in the Ukraine September 1 to June 30 on a Fulbright lecture-research award. He will teach U.S. History at Zaporizhzhia State University and visit archives throughout the former Soviet republic in search of documents relating to Mennonite history.

Fresno Pacific University celebrates reaccrediation

An association of fellow educators gave another Fresno Pacific University its highest vote of confidence, reaccrediting the university for 10 years.
