Deborah Gayle Copeland, Ph.D. appointed provost

Update: Monday, November 6, 2017

The search committee has been working diligently the past few weeks reviewing applications on a rolling basis as they have been steadily arriving. We are grateful for the good crop of applications we have had and especially the quality of the candidates. We have completed the early stages of screening and will be moving to select a small number of the candidates that appear to be those who are a better fit for our needs at this particular time in our university’s life. We will be focusing much more intently on this small group of semi-finalists as we continue to move toward our goal of being able to make our report to President Jones no later than early December. We are grateful to all the members of the FPU community who have supported us in a variety of ways and especially thankful for the prayer support we have felt. We ask for your continued prayers as we move toward this final phase of the search over the next few weeks.

Pamela Johnston, Chair
Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Search Committee

Update: Friday, October 20, 2017

The search for our new Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs was officially launched September 22 with contacts to appropriate leaders throughout higher education and especially Christian higher education. Ads were placed the first of October and began showing up online quickly following their placement. We have begun receiving inquiries, nominations and applications and will continue to receive applications at least through the end of October. The committee has been meeting to deal with administrative matters such as approving the search documents and materials and preparing for the review of applicants. Although it is very early in the process, we are pleased to report interest from a good cross-section of potential candidates. Members of the FPU community who know of outstanding leaders in Christian higher education that you believe might be a good candidate for consideration are invited to submit nominations to our search consultant, Paul Corts, Ph.D. Just send a brief email with the name and contact information to The committee appreciates your prayer support and asks that you continue to pray for the committee, potential candidates and the entire search process.

Search for Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs re-opens

The search for a permanent Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is officially re-opening. The search committee has begun meeting and is again working with the AGB Search consulting firm to advertise the position and attract high-quality candidates. Information concerning the position, including the job application, can be found on the Provost Career Posting Page. During the coming months, the search committee will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis throughout September and October, with a view towards campus visits by finalist candidates in early December. Committee members will have a heavy load of responsibility during this time–in addition to their ongoing full-time regular teaching and administrative duties, so we ask for your prayers: for wisdom and direction for the committee, and for discernment for all those who will be a part of the search process. The days ahead will be challenging, but we are encouraged by the knowledge that “with God, all things are possible.” Thank you.
