Orientation FAQ 2020

When is Orientation?

Orientation is on August 19-20 on the main campus. All Freshmen students and Transfer students who are registered for the Transfer College Transitions & Success class, CP 252 are required to go on the Sunbird Retreat at Hume Lake August 21-23, 2020

When can new students move into housing?

All students will move in on August 19 at 9:00 a.m.

What time does orientation start?
  • Transfer Students will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Steinert Campus Center, Shehadey dining hall for lunch with faculty members and other transfer students
  • A BBQ is available for Freshmen students and their families at 11:30 a.m. in the Alumni Plaza
  • Freshmen Commuter Students check in at 12:30 p.m. in the Special Events Center
  • Welcome Ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. for all students
How do I register for Orientation?

Submit an Orientation Registration Form.

Is there a schedule of events for orientation?

Yes, on the Orientation Schedules page.
All students will get a printed schedule when they check into orientation on August 19. There are also posters posted around campus with the schedule.

Is Orientation Mandatory?

Yes.

Is the Sunbird Retreat mandatory?

Yes. All Freshmen students and Transfer students who are registered for the Transfer College Transitions & Success class, CP 252 are required to go on the Sunbird Retreat at Hume Lake August 21-23, 2020

Can parents or family members attend orientation?

Yes, on Wednesday, August 19 family members are invited to all sessions and activities. Thursday, August 20 is for students only.

Is there translation available for Spanish speaking family members?

Yes, translation devices will be available in the lobby of the Special Events Center on August 19

Where should students park on orientation day?

There are no parking restrictions on orientation day (August 19 & 20)

Do students and families members need tickets to the Presidents Dinner on August 19?

No tickets are required.
