Fresno Poet Laurate and FPU grad S. Bryan Medina will give a reading at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Hiebert Library on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. Medina earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies at FPU in 2014.

The Fresno Arts Council appointed Medina to a two-year term as poet laureate in 2017. Well known in the local literary community over the last two decades for his work with Fresno’s Inner Ear Poetry Jam and the Inner Ear presents: The Beat Down Competitive Poetry Slam, he also produces poetry events such as Opera Remix: Music & Verse I & II, One Night Stanzas, Inner Ear vs The Rogue Performers, Hip-Hop & Oxygen and Food for Thought Open Mic Reading.

Medina has received two commendations from the City of Fresno and has been featured as one of the four “Fresno Poets” from writer Nick Belardes’s Distinguished Valley Writers series. His work has been published in Poetry; Flies, Cockroaches and Poets; The San Joaquin Review; Jubilee; and Invisible Memoirs.
