Conservative Conference at FPU attracts authors, politicians

Speakers will be led by Victor Davis Hanson, whose talk is titled "Conservatives in the Era of Obama." Hanson is a classicist, military historian, author and fellow at the Hoover Institute.

Other presenters and their titles are: Bruce Thornton, "Is the European Way America’s Way?"; Jonathan Krohn, "Jonathon Krohn Defines Conservativism"; Marshall Johnston, "Classical Education Lost"; and Steve Varvis, "Streams of Conservative Thought."

Thornton is an author and professor of classics at California State University, Fresno. Krohn is a teenage author and performer. Johnston is a history/classics professor at FPU. Varvis is vice president of enrollment management and history professor at FPU.

Hanson will also take part in a panel discussion titled "The State of the Conservative Movement." Joining him will be Congressmen Devin Nunes (R-Cal.) and George Radanovich (R-Cal.) and FPU Economics Professor Peng Wen.

A second panel, "California Conservatism," will feature talk radio personality Inga Barks, Jon Fleischman of FlashReport, Thornton, Pastor Chad Vegas, Assemblyman Danny Gilmore (R-30th) and Jim Patterson, former Fresno mayor. There will also be video presentations.

General admission is $35 and those who register in advance will get a continental breakfast and lunch. Reserved seating, which also includes the continental breakfast and lunch, is $65.
