Fresno Pacific University launches Guest Artist Series

A new forum for fine music opens this fall as Fresno Pacific University debuts its Guest Artist Series.

  • A piano recital by Arlene Steffen opens the series at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 8. Steffen is a member of the FPU music faculty.
  • Nationally known cellist Eugene Friesen will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, November 8 at First Presbyterian Church, Fresno. The event will raise funds for the FPU Music Department and celebrate the inauguration of D. Merrill Ewert as president of the university. Admission will be charged and a dessert reception will follow.
  • The Winds of the San Joaquin concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2003. The ensemble includes Jennie Blomster, French horn; Bill Knezovich, bassoon; Ginny Oustad, clarinet; Pam Ellzey, flute; and Rachel Aldrich, oboe. Blomster, Knezovich, Oustad and Aldrich are connected with the university music program, and Ellzey has been active in the annual FPU Flute Festival.
  • The first season will conclude with "Two Guitars: Ruben Delgado and Steve Nance" at 7: 30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003.
