Home safety program seeks volunteers for event at Fresno Pacific University

Help keep fellow Fresnans safe in their homes by participating in a program sponsored by the American Red Cross and Fresno Fire Department and hosted by Fresno Pacific University.

The Home Fire Campaign is about building stronger communities, one smoke alarm at a time. On Saturday, October 15, 2016, volunteers will gather at Alumni Plaza outdoors in the central part of the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., and organize into groups to canvass local homes and install free smoke detectors for families.

Everyone is invited to participate. “Seven times a day, someone in this country dies in home fire,” according to a Red Cross statement. “The American Red Cross invites you to help save lives by becoming a Home Fire Campaign volunteer.”

Shifts will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The event is free and lunch is provided. Sign up at redcross.org/cencalhfc and get more information at 559-706-2428.
