He presented two workshops at the Christian Community Development Association national convention in Minneapolis September 28-29: "On Common Ground: Nurturing a Cooperative Spirit in a Competitive Space" and "It's All About Me: Narcissism, Leadership, and Christian Community Development."

In August, he joined the board of Hands On Central California, an organization that fosters volunteerism in the Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Madera counties.

"An Introduction to Redistribution" was the name of a workshop he presented July 12 to a group of college students and community members participating in Fresno Urban Internship, a summer program of FIFUL (the Fresno Institute for Urban Leadership). FUI draws students from InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapters from across California and beyond.

In a summer-long effort, he spearheaded a neighborhood ministry research project among Fresno congregations, sharing the results with 96 ministry leaders at a July 26 No Name Fellowship gathering called "Place Matters: The Theology of the Church's Role in Its Neighborhood."

His article, "Becoming a City Without Orphans: Connecting Fresno Christians to Foster-Care Children," was published on the website June 20.
