Among FPU's uses for Informer are monitoring athlete eligibility and supporting the online employee directory, student portal and student information for the library system. In all, more than 2,000 reports are built into the system across six databases. Jones estimates the university saves 40 hours a week using Informer to run reports.
Jones (BA '99) is FPU systems analyst/data architect and has worked full-time at the university since 2000. His wife, Char (BA '01, MA '13), teaches fourth grade in Selma. The couple's children are Parker, 9; Isabella, 6; and Mason, 4. They have also spiritually adopted Elaine Yanez, an FPU senior in social work.
The prizes were presented October 1 at the 2013 Informer User Conference (ICON) in Myrtle Beach, SC, where Jones gave a presentation.
