“Pursuing Peace in the Holy Land” at Fresno Pacific features pastor and scholar

“Pursuing Peace in the Holy Land” is the title of a series of four public events November 8-10, 2016, hosted by the Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary (FPBS).

All feature Alex Awad, a pastor and author with extensive experience in Palestine. While he and wife Brenda lived in the region, he led an international church in East Jerusalem and served as professor, dean of students and board member at Bethlehem Bible College. His books include Through the Eyes of the Victims and Palestinian Memories.

The visit is sponsored by the FPBS Center for Anabaptist Studies and West Coast Mennonite Central Committee, an international Christian relief organization. The events, all on the main Fresno Pacific University campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, are:

  • 2:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, “Empowering Young Palestinian Christians in the Work of Non-violent Peacemaking.” Awad speaks to the FPU Council of Senior Professionals in BC Lounge. Admission is free.

  • 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, “Pursuing Peace in the Holy Land,” breakfast meeting with Awad in BC Lounge. Admission is $10, includes breakfast. RSVP alex-awad-breakfast.eventbrite.com

  • 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, Little Town of Bethlehem, documentary film on Christians, Muslims and Jews pursuing peace in Palestine. Includes Q&A with Awad. Steinert Campus Center, Room 103. Admission is free.

  • 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, “Minority Christians in Patient Mission: Lessons from the Palestinian Church,” Missiology forum featuring Awad. BC Lounge. Admission is free.
