Julie Lane, Ed.D. chairs caucus for the Council for Exceptional Children

Julie Lane, Ed.D., assistant professor of special education, is chairing a new caucus for the Council for Exceptional Children. Faith Based Schools and Organizations will address how children and youth with disabilities are served in faith-based schools and religious organizations. Members seek to understand how historical, theoretical, empirical and religious foundations support the education of children and youth with disabilities, as well as determine the most effective and appropriate avenues for providing high-quality services and support. Faith Based Schools and Organizations is a forum for students, faculty, researchers, educators and administrators to exchange information, share concerns and make recommendations to CEC. The caucus will make its debut at the council's national conference in Philadelphia in April 2014. Lane is working in collaboration with Erik Carter, Ph.D., Vanderbilt University, and Jeffrey McNair, Ph.D., California Baptist University.
