Kopriva presents on special education in New Orleans

The name of their multimedia presentation is "Children such as These: Daily Challenges of Children with Physical and Health Impairments."

The presentation shares the results of a year-long study conducted by Kopriva in Renema-Kopriva's classroom for elementary students with physical and health impairments, addressing the social theory of learning, current research involving social-skills instruction and teaching methods such as video self-modeling and formal and informal instructional materials. The presentation uses digital photography, video and PowerPoint, and was created with the assistance of the FPU Center for Online Learning.

Students with difficulties in academic and social development need carefully planned environments and teaching practices that include reflection. "Students need to know that they are cared for and respected as individuals, and families of these students indicate that they appreciate such teachers who value and practice these attributes," Kopriva said.
