Position Summary

The University Registrar reports to the Provost. The Registrar’s Office serves students, faculty, staff and administration in four regional campuses, the FPU main campus, and online delivery through multiple distinct traditional and non-traditional academic programs (traditional undergraduate, adult degree completion, graduate, and seminary). Current university priorities are excellent customer service to students and faculty, efficient and effective management of data and reporting, and simplicity and transparency of operations to facilitate continued moderate growth of the student body. The Registrar serves on multiple committees and supervises a highly capable and experienced staff of professionals.

  • Responsible for the staff and all functions of the Office of the Registrar, which includes undergraduate and graduate programs at all locations.
  • Manage the daily operations of the department related to technology applications, reporting, and service and internal and external customers.
  • Accountable for data collection, analysis, and preparation of reports for decision making.
  • Ensure the security and accuracy of the student database and that the fullest functionality of the System is being utilized.
  • Develop and implement a yearly technology plan that sets priorities for projects and ensures completion.
  • Develop and maintain an overall working knowledge of the University’s student operations and procedures.
  • Respond to complex student, faculty and staff questions and interpret policies related to course registration, grades, academic advising, academic regulations, major declarations, graduation requirements, class schedules and room assignments, course credit evaluation, transcript requests, cross-registration with other institutions, study abroad. Resolves issues and problems or refers to appropriate personnel to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Serve as the data steward for the office; vet requests from other departments on campus for access to student data; handle open records, subpoenas, and other requests for student data; manage access to systems where student data is stored.
  • Provide administration of academic policies and makes recommendations regarding policy updates.
  • Monitor policy effectiveness.
  • Advise academic leaders and faculty on policy questions and development.
  • File regular student data reports and respond to error reports. Assist with compiling data for external audits.
  • Report student enrollment data to the VA. Counsel VA students re benefits and maintain files. Provide information requested by VA auditors.
  • Serves as Designated School Official and maintains accurate records in SEVIS.
  • Train university faculty and others on procedures and processes.
  • Monitor processes to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. FERPA, etc.) and other traditional and unique areas of university records and policy administration.
  • Promote academic success through discipline and accountability.
  • Oversight of the Academic Success Center.
  • Oversight of Disability Access and Education.
  • Work closely with other departments toward successful reporting requirements to accreditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Master’s degree.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Registrar in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a collegial and collaborative administrative leadership style.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, and act decisively.
  • Knowledge of student data system and reporting, including web-based registrations and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex operation.
  • Ability to both organize and retrieve data, policies, and materials.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies in various situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful experience in settings with ethnically and culturally diverse student and staff populations.
  • Collaborative project developer and problem-solver within department and with other student services offices, administration and faculty.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of staff members for professional growth.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal, State and Accreditation standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of current records, registration, policies, and trends, as well as technological developments as related to a registrar’s operation.


  • Advanced degree. 
  • Actively involved in a professional organization, and well networked in Student Records and Registrar profession.
  • Experience with international programs.
  • Experience in a multi-site, multi-program university.

Environmental Conditions

  • Indoors in normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least ninety percent (90%) of the time.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Proficient at multitasking.
  • Public contact position requiring business-like apparel.
