Pre-Law

The pre-law/criminal justice major equips prospective lawyers or criminal justice personnel to be knowledgeable about the legal and criminal justice systems in the United States. It provides an understanding of alternative approaches to conflict resolution and the pursuit of justice and prepares graduates to pursue value-based careers in a law-related fields.

Chemistry

Chemistry explores the composition, properties, structure, and reactions of matter. The chemistry major provides students with an understanding of the unifying themes-and diversity-of natural and synthetic materials and their importance within the environment and technology.

Intercultural Studies

The intercultural studies major prepares students for living and working within cultures different from their own. Students develop a broadened perspective and the knowledge needed to function and serve in our inter-dependent global society.

Distinctive Features

This major is built around a core set of interdisciplinary courses designed to give a broad understanding of the world and connections between societies. It offers two emphases:

Contemporary Christian Ministries

Ministry, put simply, is an act (or acts) of service to others. Expanding on this definition, the contemporary Christian ministries major prepares graduates for ministry by focusing on specific needs and roles in church and para-church organizations. Thus, this major is designed for students with an interest in practical forms of service in church and para-church ministries.

Business Administration - Management/Organizational Studies

Successful managers understand the functioning components of their organization: employees, production, customer needs, operational needs, etc. The bachelor of arts degree in business administration with an emphasis in management/organizational studies provides graduates with a deep understanding of these core components.

Business Administration - Accounting

Accounting provides statistical analyses of business transactions: purchases, profits, liabilities and assets. Accountants are in constant high demand, as they help to provide an organization with both credibility and sustainability. FPU's bachelor of arts degree with an emphasis in accounting prepares graduates for leadership and excellence in this field.

Language Studies Minor

Linguistics encompasses the study of human language as a universal feature of human behavior and thinking.

Economics Minor

The economics minor is designed for students who seek a basic understanding of the major components of economics. Graduates obtain an enhanced perspective that can be valuable to a wide variety of accompanying majors.

Distinctive Features

Courses for this minor focus on core economic principles, managerial economics, statistics, public and international finance and research. Each offers knowledgeable faculty who share practical experiences.

Social Work

For centuries Christian ministry has included social work. The social work major at FPU continues that tradition, encouraging a commitment to social justice and a life of service. The major educates students in counseling individuals, couples and families, working with groups, facilitating individual and social change, and developing new services for people in need.

Pre-Health Sciences

The pre-health sciences major provides students with a broad, interdisciplinary foundation in the sciences. It prepares students for entry into medical and dental careers, as well as a variety of allied health fields: nursing, physician's assistantships, physical therapy, nutrition, medical technology and more.
