The future in math and science education arrives Friday, March 2, when ground will be broken for a mathematics and science building at Fresno Pacific University. Please join faculty, students, staff, board members and others for ceremonies at 3 p.m.
Speakers will include Harold Haak, FPU president, and Arthur Wiebe, university president emeritus and co-founder of the Activities Integrating Mathematics and Science (AIMS) Educational Foundation. Wiebe and AIMS provided the lead gift for the building.
The $9 million project includes a two-story, 21,000 square-foot structure to be constructed on the campus south and east of McDonald Hall near the intersection of Chestnut and Hamilton avenues. Facilities include laboratories for biology, physics, chemistry and research as well as a library, conference room, faculty offices and up-to-date storage and safety areas. Plans also call for a two-story lobby area featuring skylights and facing that will coordinate with other campus buildings.
