Colleagues gathered September 6, 2013, in BC Lounge on the main campus to honor Steele's contribution to bachelor's degree completion and graduate programs as well as FPU at large. Steele served as regional center executive director and interim vice president for student affairs.
During her tenure Steele directly oversaw the opening and/or expansion of regional centers in Merced, North Fresno, Visalia and Bakersfield. The DC and graduate programs have expanded programs and adult learners have become Fresno Pacific's largest student group. "She has served this university selflessly," said FPU President Pete C. Menjares, Ph.D.
Steele stepped down because her husband, Mark, accepted a new position requiring him to travel extensively. She also helps care for parents and plans to finish her doctorate.
With solid leadership and competent staff, the regional team is in an excellent position to move forward, Steele said. "It has been an honor to co-labor with you. I believe God has great plans for Fresno Pacific, and will continue to use your efforts as a vital part in furthering the mission and vision of this institution," she added.
