Private Education Loan Information

Fresno Pacific University encourages students to pursue federal student grants and loans prior to applying for private educational loans. Private loans are designed to meet educational costs not covered by any other forms of financial aid.

Unlike federal loans, interest rates, grace periods, repayment options and fees for private educational loans are determined by the lender and can vary considerably from lender to lender. Private loans are based on an individual's credit history and credit worthiness.

Online Comparison Tools

To help you and your family navigate through the complex information provided by private lenders, FPU has partnered with Simple Tuition and Private Loan Marketplace. These are online comparison tools designed to help you select the lender best suited to your particular needs. If you choose a lender that is not on either of these lists, please contact the FPU loan coordinator at 559-453-2041 to be sure the loan will be processed.

Simple Tuition(To determine which lenders are placed on Simple Tuition, FPU looked at the past history of these lenders. Historically they have provided consistent, quality service to both students and FPU.)

Code of Conduct

FPU has adopted a Code of Conduct with respect to student loans which applies to all employees in the financial aid office and other personnel at FPU.

Fresno Pacific University and its employees do not benefit in any way from the borrower's choice of lenders. We seek only to provide borrowers with a list of lenders who have provided excellent service to the borrower and to the university.

Self Certification Form

Please note that you will be required to complete the Department of Education’s “self-certification form” before you can complete your private loan application. This form, along with the information you need to complete it, will be provided to you by your chosen lender. You may also obtain this form from the Student Financial Services Office.
