Pete C. Menjares, Ph.D., combines a personal faith with a pastoral heart and a passion for peace and justice. Menjares came to FPU from Biola University, where over an 18-year career his posts included vice provost for faculty development and academic effectiveness, associate provost for diversity leadership, education department chair and associate professor of education. Community minded, President Menjares has served as a public school middle school teacher and as a senior pastor of a church in Los Angeles County. His Ph.D. in education: language, literacy and learning is from the University of Southern California; his M.A. in education: teaching and curriculum is from California State University, Dominguez Hills; and his B.A. in religion: pastoral ministries is from Vanguard University.

Since 1985, Steve Varvis has been shaping the lives of future leaders at Fresno Pacific University. He has worked in a variety of roles at FPU, from history professor to undergraduate dean, and vice president for enrollment management. In his current role he is responsible, with the deans of the schools and other leaders, for the academic and student life programs and personnel of the university, and for encouraging and celebrating the ongoing accomplishments of faculty and students. His academic interests and scholarship are in medieval and early modern intellectual and world history, and in special topics like the history of political thought and business ethics. He received his bachelor of arts from California State University, Fresno, and his doctorate from Claremont Graduate University.

Mark Deffenbacher has spent his career in the non-profit sector. He has a bachelor of arts from Warner Pacific College, a master of arts from Anderson University School of Theology and C.F.R.E. certification. He has served Fresno Pacific University since 1993 as planned giving officer and foundation executive director and continues to consult and present seminars for other non-profit organizations throughout the nation.

Before coming to Fresno Pacific in 2005, Alan Ours spent 13 years working in the information technology department at Taylor University, most recently as director of IT and security. He has a bachelor of arts in math/computer science from The King's College, and a master of science in information and communication sciences from Ball State University.

Lynn Jost brings congregational and international experience to his work at FPU. He has been a church pastor and moderator, college and graduate-school professor and chair or member of district and denominational committees on the confession of faith, church extension and evangelism and faith and life. Today he teaches in the Old Testament and M.Div. programs in addition to serving on the university leadership team. Jost’s B.A. is from Tabor College, his M.Div. is from MB Biblical Seminary and his M.A. and Ph.D. are from Vanderbilt University. 

Diana Bates Mock

Diana Bates Mock came to FPU in 2001 as director of communications and university relations. A marketing industry veteran, her titles over the years have included advertising copywriter, creative director, public relations director and independent marketing consultant. In addition to her current role as associate vice president of university communications and marketing, she serves as adjunct faculty in the School of Business. She has a B.A. from California State University, Fresno in mass communications, and an M.A. from FPU in leadership and organizational studies.

Jon Endicott oversees traditional undergraduate and seminary recruiting in addition to degree completion and graduate admissions. Endicott started his present position in 2009. From 1996-2002, he was in the traditional undergraduate enrollment department as associate director, then director of college admissions. His B.A. is from Concordia University and his M.A. is from the University of California, Irvine. In between his time at Fresno Pacific University, Endicott worked at Fresno Christian Schools.

Cindy Steele

In 2000, Cindy Steele began working at Fresno Pacific University overseeing staff and operations for the adult students. For the past several years, she has been responsible for the development, operations, admissions and enrollment of our regional campuses. Currently, she is also overseeing the service offices of financial aid and student accounts. Her B.A. is in liberal arts from Pepperdine University; she also has a M.A. in marriage, family and child counseling, and is currently working on an Ed.D. in higher education leadership at Azusa Pacific University. Previously, she worked as a licensed counselor, director of a Christian counseling center, and adjunct faculty.
